The Entirely Necessary Camping Guide

In the United States, people have been camping for the better of 140 years. Technically, it’s probably been going on for a lot longer because the earliest settlers were essentially campers. Once people realized that they can enjoy nature by going out and spending time with their family, camping became something fun to do! Camping trips can be great fun because you can go in all sorts of climates, and hike or swim. The possibility of seeing a rare animal in the wild is certainly memorable. These are just some of the perks of camping. The more you go camping, the more you will discover about nature.

Camping with the Wee Ones

Camping with kids and pets can be a little challenging because they have special needs. With dogs, you’ll need to make sure you bring dog food, leashes, collars, and possibly even flea medication. Kids need extra clothes, toys, special snacks, and their favorite games. It’s important to let them know about camping safety so you will have to tell them not to wander too far away from the campsite, be careful around fires, avoid unfamiliar plants, and more. They also need to understand that dogs should be kept on leashes and wild animals can be dangerous so they should just observe them, and not play with them.

Camping FUN!

A camping trip without camping activities is going to be quite boring. Make sure you take some time to prepare for some camping activities. It’s always a good idea to plan a hiking trip because it’s an activity which can be enjoyed by everybody. Going on the hiking trail allows you and your family to get even closer to nature, and it’s also a fantastic opportunity for some family bonding. Other the other hand, hiking is a great way to introduce the children to the wonders of nature. Take some time to tell them about the different species of plants. If you come across any animal, it’s your chance to show how smart you really are!

Some people like to go hunting or fishing. Another good idea is to organize a campfire. There’s always something magical about singing or telling scary stories around a campfire out in the woods while the marshmallows turn to coal. If you want a more active kind of camping activity, you can never go wrong with a scavenger hunt. When the young ones go to sleep, it’s a good time to spend some quiet time with your significant other, just gazing at the stars, breathing in the serenity of the universe. Truly, the possibilities are endless.

Let’s not just concentrate on the fun part, and forget the necessary. To be well prepared, learn what you can about first aid because there’s always the possibility that someone gets bitten or injured. Bringing a first aid kit for your camping trip is extremely important especially if you plan on going hiking or doing activites that require running around through the woods.

Food and Shelter

Cooking while camping can be complicated. At the very least, you’ll need a fire to do any kind of cooking. Bring a Dutch oven so you can use it to cook over a fire. You’ll also need food that doesn’t spoil quickly or ice to make sure that it doesn’t. Another important thing is to make sure that you get the right tent. The tent has to be big enough so that people have room to step between sleeping bags, and move around a little. Sleeping bags are also necessary, especially in places where it gets cold, and wet. Sleeping bags can keep you dry and provide insulation from the weather. Before you go off on your camping trip, you must learn the fine art of packing. It goes a little further than just throwing everything in your vehicle. If you pack wrongly, your camping trip can be ruined. A good packer knows exactly what type of clothes, utensils, and food to bring.
