I remember my first visit to Cabela’s. It was more like a visit to a natural history museum than to a retail store. In the center, big horn sheep and mountain goats climbed a shrub-dotted mountain that rose more than 30 feet toward the high roof. Eagles and hawks flew from the rafters. Display after display depicted native American wildlife: a buffalo and calf grazing, a moose nibbling a bush, a deer family in flight. The fishing area sported an aquarium to rival any zoo’s. It was stocked with native American fish. Who would have believed that Alaskan Salmon grew to such a size!
